On Sep. 24, 2016, Life Care Center of Westlake, Ohio, participated in the Oberlin Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
The facility team raised $2,130 for the Alzheimer’s Association, through selling dress-down days, candy sales and online donations.
Life Care Center of Westlake’s presence at the walk was just as strong. As a bronze sponsor for the walk, the facility had a sponsorship table with information about the center, and 47 team members attended, including associates, family members and one resident.
“The walk was a success with many returning walkers and a few new faces joining Life Care Center of Westlake’s team,” said team captain Emily Bennett, director of the center’s Oasis unit for dementia patients.
Bennett served as a co-chair for the Oberlin Walk to End Alzheimer’s this year. In this position, she got to attend the Alzheimer’s Association National Summit in January in Phoenix, Arizona, to prepare for this walk season.
“I walk to honor my residents and also have a family connection to the cause,” said Bennett.
